Welcome to our september summer base of 2018. Picture this: beautiful landscapes around, Italian food all over, around 30 sunny degrees on your head, spacious apartments with swimming pool, 5km from kite spot, friendly local people bringing fresh bread, fruit and smiles… But the best: super lovely kitesurf conditions for every level! For beginners to freestylers there is a big waist deep flat water lagoon right at our doorstep. It is perfect for our included intensive coaching pack. Are you a wave rider? No worries, the sea entrance of the lagoon is perfect for your directional! Do we need to say more? We would love to take you out kitesurfing this summer at Porto Botte, the most beautiful lagoon Italy has to offer.
The kite spot
The area around Sardinia is already a famous destination to go kitesurfing. The thermal winds create a high number of wind days, even during the summer months. Porto Botte, where we will be staying during the kite trip, is already a populair kiteboarding destination, BUT is quiet and perfect in september, during this month we still got plenty of space on the lagoon. And it never gets too crowded as we take you there in September instead of school holidays. Let’s discover this together before the big crowd does!
Our Sardinia kiteboarding camp has it all
Next to the perfect kitesurf destination with the wind blowing almost every afternoon, our apartments are close to the spot. And the kite school we work with is a good hang out on the beach during the daytime. And don’t forget the included rescue and storrage on the spot, and….. lots of delicious food (breakfast, lunch and dinner are included). Also chilling at stunning sunsets is for free 🙂 For shopping, sightseeing, bars and restaurants we can offer trips to bring you to beautiful places around.
Intensive coaching program included
As an extra addition to this trip we offer a free intensive kiteboarding coaching program with two of our crew members. Want to make progression? Join us! Of course the Girlzactive crew will be around for the support we always give you on our kitesurfing camps. But trust us, the coaching make you give that extra smile 🙂
We offer you a special discount if you rent your own car to move around over the island. It’s €75,- per person, so if you share the car, you even earn money. 😉 Check the package tab and use the code OWNCAR.
Come visit us at our new summer 2018 hang out in Porto Botte, Sardinia. You are more than welcome, either alone or with your kitesurfing girlfriends.
LEVEL: beginner, intermediate, advanced
1st coach of this kite camp: Vera Klabbers
Vera is the youngest of the team. She became Junior World Champion and European Champion in 2015 and got in 2nd at the Dutch Nationals in 2016. She works hard to be competing in the WKL (World Kiteboarding League). Girlzactive supports Vera so she is able to train all over the world. At the kite camp in Sicily she likes to share her passion with you and help you out on the water. She can learn you new tricks and help you with your gear. She will also be giving the yoga fit classes in the morning.
Maroean is the owner and founder of Girlzactive. Besides being the host for this camp, IKO licensed instructor and coach, you can ask her everything about Girlzactive, all the trips and of course about your gear. She can write many stories on how great board sports are and all the ins and outs of the trips, but even more she is looking forward to meeting you in person on the trips and events. She would love to share her passion for board sports and the way of life that comes with it.
Huge flat water lagoon spots as well as up to 300 days of wind per year is what we love about Italy. With Sardinia we found one of the best Italian spots. Porto Botte has one of the biggest flat water lagoons in Europe with flat and shallow (knee and waist high) + deep water. It offers the perfect conditions for (learning) kitesurfing. There is always enough space for practicing your first meters on the board or new (freestyle) moves. We are working together with a local kite school that offers us their spot, equipment, storage, food and other infrastructure. They also have a restaurant, chill area, skate ramp, in total it’s more than 1000m2. We will bring our own coaches and work with European teachers.
At the lagoon there are two different wind systems, both suitable for kiting and mainly side shore. And the good news: one of them is always on! At this point, both wind directions are kite-able. There is a complete kitesurf infrastructure, consisting of an area for setting up the equipment, launch and landing, rescue boat, showers, storage and a restaurant, all included.
We advice you to bring them all! Wind can vary on average from 12-28 knots and picks up during the day. We are mainly using our 9m, but it is useful to bring kites from 7-11m depending on your length, technique and bodyweight.
Temperature & wind statistics
The short distance to the African continent is what makes the temperature warm and pleasant from March until November. We advice you to bring your shorty for the sessions tough.
Average air temperature: 30 ℃
Average water temperature: 25 ℃
Average amount of days in September with more than 3 hrs > 4 bft: 25 days
Sardinia is more than kitesurfing
Sardinia is a beautiful country with authentic and untouched landscapes. Sardinian cookery is bursting with intense, fruity and aromatic flavours and offers a rich repertoire of dishes for a memorable culinary experience. Traditional Sardinian cuisine has the taste of the island itself, with fish from the sea, herbs from the mountains and fruit and vegetables ripened in the warm Mediterranean sunshine. It’s a country full of history, with many archaeological sites.
Kite camp apartments
Our apartments are located in an intimate complex built in a fairytale Mediterranean style in the Sardinian village of Villarios in the south of the island. They alle entail two twin bedrooms, a large saloon, bathroom, kitchen and private terrace.
The residence is located on a picturesque hill about 5 km from the nearest beach. There is an outdoor swimming pool with a beautiful view of the area and the bay. The whole is fenced, green and very neat. The amazing climate is created by colorful flowers that bloom almost all year round and olive trees adorning the alleys and verandas.
The location of the residence away from the busy roads guarantees peace and quiet relaxation while singing birds and cicadas of crickets, but really central to all .
It’s a small drive from our mainspot. You can either decide to rent your own car and get a discount or we take care of your transfers during the camp.
Flights are not included, but very affordable from anywhere in Europe. As usual, we are more than happy to help and advice you if needed. The most popular airlines are TUI, Transavia, Alitalia and KLM. Plus a number of other smaller charter companies. Of course this also depends on your country of departure. Flights are available from around € 175,- return.
Don’t forget to check luggage prices when taking your own gear!
Sardinia offers more than one airport to fly on. We offer transfers from Cagliari. Please take into account that we combine transfers with other camp guests. The transfer is only included on set arrival and departure dates. If you want a private transfer on a different time or on a different date, extra costs may apply. We recommend this airport as it’s the closest the camp. After our driver picked you up, we will be awaiting you with a refreshing drink at the apartment!
The apartment complex has a large parking if you decide to rent or bring a car. And if you do so, we offer you a discount of €75,- on the camp package.
EU citizens do not need a visa.
