New Year’s in paradise, you don’t want to miss this one! By living aboard a yacht we are able to get to some of the most remote and supreme kiteboarding destinations: the Grenadines! You need special permits to be allowed to sail and kite in the Grenadines area and Girlzactive is proud to have gotten one for New Year’s Eve 2017! To us it is a once in a lifetime experience to go kiteboarding in this unique place. And of course we would love to share this with you. We offer a 7 days kitesurfing cruise around the beautiful islands with the option to stay 5 more days in a kitesurfing park on the mainland of Martinique. Check the ‘Safari’ tab above for the full itinerary on the kite cruise and the ‘Packages’ tab for all trip options.
Grenadines in top 10 kiteboarding destinations
The deserted islands with multiple palm trees are surrounded by crystal clear water and coral reefs full of tropical marine life. The flat water kiteboarding and sailing around the paradisial islands is so spectacular that it has been said to be one of the top 10 destinations on the planet for sailing and kitesurfing.
Kite conditions + kite sizes
The wind season at the Grenadines islands starts in the middle of December and runs until mid May. The wind is blowing consistently 12-25 knots almost every day, so the ideal kite sizes for this trip are 9-12m. One of the many benefits of being on a boat is that we can always sail to windier locations if needed.
More than kitesurfing.
This trip offers more than kitesurfing only, we first set sail for a nice journey on the Catamarans to reach the island of St Lucia. We need your help during the sailing. Further we will hike a view beautiful islands, visit the pirates bar, snorkle with the Turtles in front of the Tabago islands and many more…
The kite cruise of your life
We can’t tell you how much we are looking forward to this trip. Bring all your friends (guys allowed!) and celebrate the new year with us on this dream kiteboarding cruise around the incredible Grenadines!
LEVEL: intermediate, advanced
Lucky coach of this dream kite trip: Maroean Mones
Maroean is the owner and founder of Girlzactive. Besides being the host for this trip, IKO licensed instructor and coach, you can ask her everything about Girlzactive, all the trips and of course about your gear. She can write many stories on how great board sports are and all the ins and outs of the trips, but even more she is looking forward to meeting you in person on the trips and events. She would love to share her passion for board sports and the way of life that comes with it.
In case we take a second catamaran with us, one of the other crew members will join us. And there is already a fight going on in the office who. So let’s make it happen 😉
On this kite cruise we will be staying aboard a beautiful 48 ft. catamaran. This boat has 4 double cabins with private bathroom and 2 double bunks without private bathroom.
After the kitesurfing cruise you have the opportunity to stay at Le Village de la Pointe. We offer a 10 days package that combines the cruise and the village, so you have the choice to stay 10 days instead of 7.

ITINERARY GRENADINE KITE CRUISE
Introduction to the boat & total crew before setting off for a sunset sail to the island of St Lucia. Sailing
time is 6 hours and we anchor for the night in a calm beach close to where the film ‘Pirates of the
Caribbean’ was made.
In the morning we set off early from St Vincent and have breakfast while motoring down the stunning
tropical coastline, if lucky we can even have a short kite session here. The sail after takes 12 hours to our
First ‘real’ kite spot and we often catch a fish on the way! Ourdestination is ‘Mayreau Gardens’ – a good place
to test the Caribbean conditions. The evening is spent at anchor in the lagoon.
After breakfast it’s time for another early morning kite session in the Gardens before setting sail to
Union Island (1hr). Clifton is the main village of the Grenadines and has a vibrant local ‘Rasta’ culture.
Here you will find a colourful market and a selection of local bars, shops and restaurants. The afternoon
kite session is in the flat lagoon followed by sunset drinks on ‘Happy island Bar’, Kitebeach or in the local
We start the day with a morning kite session in Union Lagoon followed by an optional downwinder
beside the catamaran to Frigate Rock. Frigate is an exceptionally flat freestyle spot with offshore wind
(rescue boat available!). In the evening we set sail (1hr) to the private island resort called PSV. Here
there is a stylish cocktail bar for the hotel residents which sailors can also visit 😉
In the morning guests can hike up the hill in PSV for stunning view of the lagoon. After this we stop for
snorkelling at nearby Morpion Island (stunning sand bar surrounded by reef) before sailing to
the famous ‘Tobago Cays’. Here you can kite all day with turtles and rays in the protected national park.
The water colours are unbeatable. In the evening there is an optional lobster BBQ made by the
fishermen on the uninhabited islands.
Our next destination offers the most spectacular beach of the trip. Salt Whistle Bay in Mayreau is only a
15 minute sail from the Tobago Cays and guests are welcome to make the trip by kite or by boat. In
Mayreau you’ll discover a palm lined, white sand beach with a great kitespot in the windward lagoon
offering flat water and small waves. After kiting the options are to relax on the boat, go paddle boarding
and snorkelling or hike to the spectacular viewpoint in the village. Evening entertainment is in the village
or at the rasta bar on the beach.
Another day kiting in Mayreau with an optional down winder at the end of the morning back to Union
Island so the captain can clear immigration. After a day’s kiting we sail back up to St Vincent where we
spend the night at anchor (6 hrs).
Early morning sail back up to Martinique (16 hrs). The trip takes 12 hours of sailing both ways as a nice extra.
(* the yacht picks us up at Martinique as FDF has way better and affordable flight connections.
itinerary is based on current possibilities and may change due to wind / nature, etc).
Sounds like a dream coming true if you ask us! 🙂 🙂
